Why do we always assume 'X' in mathematics?

Well this question mostly can come into your mind but its answer is not so logical.

Actually the reason behind it is that ,in mathematics equation we need such alphabet to assume which can be watched easily. And for this we need such alphabet which is least used in question. Because if the alphabet which we are assuming, is already given in the question as quantity or other part then its very difficult to recognize given and assume quantity.

So to escape such conditions we assume x as unknown part.Because x is least used in asking questions and if we assume x as unknown we can write it easily and fast as compare to any others alphabet.

But it is not necessary that you have to assume or let only x as unknown. You can assume any alphabet as unknown.But then you may be face some difficulties to solve your question. In fact sometimes an easy question can be very hard just because of not assuming x.

I also have faced such problems in my college.Many of the students don't pay more attention to assuming. But The assuming alphabet also play an important role during solving the questions. Specially this conditions is normal in small classes. Once we finished our high school then we got an idia that how should we assume in questions.
There is only few questions in which assuming x can be generat problem and that is x itself.Well if x is already given in the question as known particle then you should try assume other alphabet as unknown because if you assume unknown as x and known is already is x then you can be disturb by this.But there is only few questions in which x is given as known part.Mostly questions in the books and exams are asked in which x is not give as known.


So the conclusion is this that we assume x as unknown so that we can easily recognize the different between unknown and known quantity and can solve questions easily.
